Today is the day: *happy 1st birthday* to my little piece of the big blogosphere!
I started this blog on May 11th 2012. Mostly for fun, but also to improve my English writing skills. I thought that writing about things I love would be more fun and much easier than writing about a boring topic imposed by a teacher. It kinda works, because my personal dictionary is increasingly filled! So here I am, a year later, documenting my little life being the girl I am who likes to cook, decorate and travel. Being a new home owner and a cat lady.
As a beginner at this blogging thing, I learn something new about it almost everyday. I didn’t expect anything special from blogging, but I truly enjoy sharing little pieces of my life and connecting with all of you. I never thought I would get comments from so many places around the world and, in bonus, meet wonderful people that share the same interests as me. Every night I read my favorite blogs to get ideas for my next dinner with friends, inspiration to syle my bedroom or advices to buy a new nail polish. Bloggers are so inspiring! But as exciting as it can be, blogging is also constantly challenging me. I often ask myself “why would somebody follow my blog?” or “what do I have to offer?”.
A few months ago, two bloggers I like shared some blogging tips. And I thank them for that!
Joy shared her 10 real-talk blog tips. Reading her advices #1, 3 and 4 was so relieving! Yes, I do compare myself to other bloggers. Yes, I would like to post everyday. Yes, I would looove having millions of views each month. And yes, I would also like to have an amazing blog design that makes you say WOW everytime you stop by. But I’m not there right now and before reaching this point (!), I like to keep that quote in mind.
Kate started a new series about bloggin. For her first post, she talked about starting a blog. Like Joy, Kate also said it’s important to blog at our own pace. I try to blog twice a week (tuesday + friday). I was wondering if it’s enough. After reading Joy and Kate tips, I know it’s OK for me. I would love to blog more often, but I just don’t have the time. You know, I need to sleep at least 8 hours per night! Meanwhile, I’m also reading Blog Inc. by Joy Deangdeelert Cho. This book is like the little bible for blogger. Joy’s advices are so helpful and motivating and they cover every aspects of blogging, from choosing a name and a platform to attracting readers and making money. Learning from all those experienced bloggers gives me confidence and inspiration for what’s coming next.
I would like to say a heartfelt *thank you* to each of you who have pressed the like or follow buttons or have wrote a comment at the end of a post. It warms my heart to know that someone appreciated what I wrote and took the time to give me a little feedback. And if you’re reading Four Seasons at Home for the first time, I hope you’ll like it here and you’re always welcome!
Reading all those tips + advices and writing this post were like a big pep talk to me and I’m ready to hit this second blogging year! But for now, I’m enjoying the California sun and I’m gonna eat the best cupcake I can find around here! Let’s celebrate this first blogiversary! :)
